Hi, I'm Rosemary I. Patterson, Ph.D.
This site is a brief guide to my novels. Please feel free to travel through my site and check out the other novels I had the pleasure of writing. All the books below are available as Kindle downloads and in print.
Each book cover is linked to a web page where you can order the books directly from amazon.com or xlibris. Click on each cover.

My latest literary history is "Timber Sale" a novel about the Canadian Western Lumber Company and Alexander Duncan McRae, a wealthy entrepreneur who made his company the biggest logging complex in the British Empire. I have contrasted his life and lifestyle with those of his workers, French Canadians, Sikhs, Chinese and Japanese people who did the heavy labor to enrich the company's investors. I have covered the time era from 1907 to 1916.
writer's digest review: "THE WRITING IS LEAN AND LITERATE IN STYLE, PAINTING A FASCINATING WORD PORTRAIT THAT IS GIVEN A HUMANIST DEPTH IN THE WAY THE AUTHOR PORTRAYS THESE HISTORIC, TRANSFORMING EVENTS SET AGAINST THE ENVIRONMENT AND COMPLICATIONS THAT INFORM THE SHAPING OF THESE CHARACTERS' LIVES AND DESTINIES. THE CAST OF EVERYDAY PEOPLE PORTRAYED HERE IS, INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, CERTAINLY STRONG ENOUGH TO CARRY THE NARRATIVE, SUCCESSFULLY ENGAGING THE READER'S INTEREST IN WANTING TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. THE AUTHOR'S CHOICE OF INCIDENT IS WELL HONED IN THE WAY INDIVIDUAL SCENES REVEAL CHARACTER THROUGH ACTION AND DIAGLOGUE; AN ENTERTAINING AND INFORMATIVE READ."
My newest book is "The Way of the Supernova." This is a must have book for all people beginning or even preparing for retirement. Readers will learn how to strike the perfect balance between wellness, leisure, and purpose during what can be called now the "revitalment years" rather than retirement. People are living longer and readers will explore how to live in vitality while also leaving a legacy. These are some of the most important years in life!

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN BUSINESS VERSUS PROFIT - In Money Child, commitment-phobic folksinger Rolf Nordquist, has contracted with lovely but career-obsessed real estate entrepreneur, Fila Enderby, to produce a money child to meet the requirements of her father's will. The result is a screemingly funny comedy as Rolf and Fila unexpectedly fall in love and Tibetan Buddhist Lama Tsot shakes up conservative Orange County. This novel also outlines Tibetan Buddhist principles for living and dying.
"Journey Great Barrier Reef: An Adventure Novel Set in Australia." A Winner as a screenplay in the 2003 Telluride Indiefest Screenplay Contest. Are there really 600,000 lbs. of Cyanide in corroding barrels on the northern end of the Gt. Barrier Reef as Greenpeace suggests?
Writer's Digest says " What most impressed me about this book was its unique setting and diverse characters working together, working against one another and mainly the setting contributing or disturbing characters'wants. The setting - circumnavigating the Australia coasline - and the dynamic personalities involved create strong conflict within the book. THIS IS AN AMBITIOUS AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING BOOK."

King Kamehameha's favorite wife Ka'ahumanu is brought back to present day Hawaii by angry Hawaiian deities to view modern day Hawaii and evaluate whether her decisions were beneficial for her people in the long run.
Writer's Digest says: "I was impressed by this author's encyclopedic knowledge of Hawaiian culture, customs and history. I also like the political conscience that guides the novel. The is a book written for a reason. Of the characters, I was most interested in Kapeka and the Voice she hears. And - it almost goes without saying - this no vel has a very strong sense of place, communicated not only in visual detail, but in a well-crafted sense of mood and atmosphere."

CAREER ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
Rosemary I. Patterson, Ph.D. is a former District School Psychologist to the Surrey School District in the Vancouver, B.C. area. She was also an Educational Consultant to the Hope, B. C. Area. She is also an out-of-state member of the Hawaii Psychological Association. Rosemary is a Past President of the Canadian Authors Association - Vancouver Branch.
Rosemay is now certified to administer and interpret the General Aptitude Test Battery GAT-B and the Canadian Work Preference Inventory (CWPI). The GAT-B contains aptitudes that relate to vocational and career task completion and the CWPI contains interest patterns that relate to job and career satisfaction. Once a client's aptitudes and interest patterns are ascertained the information can be entered into a computer program (Career Profile 2004) which then matches the client's aptitudes and interest patterns against all the occupations in the National Occupation Classification. The result is the selection of realistic occupations and/or careers that fit the clent's aptitude and interest profile. This can enable clients to find the perfect occupation for their talents and interests. It can also help guide a client's selection of appropriate training and education.
The career assessment procedure allows answers to the questions:
What can I do? What occupation should I choose? Is my choice of occupation or training realistic? Patterns on the Canadian Work Preference Inventory can answer such questions as:
Why am I not finding job satisfaction in the occupation I am now doing? What other occupations would fit my interest patterns better?
For further information on these procedures please contact me at e-mail rpatter262@aol.com
